Being alone has never made me lonely. At times the company of a little butterfly or street dog, or just watching ants or squirrels is enough to make me feel connected to other living beings. I ‘listen’ to their movements, body language, mannerisms. Similarly when I listen to retro music I am transformed into a world which has so many memories, nostalgia and belonging. And of course my best friends always make themselves available to me – books.
In this era where loneliness is spreading like a pandemic please give yourself not two but three continuous jabs of vaccines – (1) identify your friends, (2) be with nature, and (3) learn to keep away from screens.
