As the year draws to a close, do think about your life and its ending too. Old age is inevitable – though many of us just don’t want to think about it.
Those who can acknowledge that age is progressing, change lifestyle accordingly, accept changed relationships, surrender to physical limitations, and yet keep their minds agile and fit, and contribute mentally if not physically – they are the ones who will find their quality of life improving with age.
Whatever your age is at present, look forward to the time when you will be a “senior” citizen, and plan in advance. I firmly believe in the message I conveyed through a book I had written when I myself was in my forties: “Life Begins at Sixty”. When the day slowly starts giving way to the dusk, one can take a lesson from the way the sun surrenders its powerful light and heat to softly dip into the horizon. You too can learn to walk into the sunset of your life. If you take the right steps from now, you will be laying a strong foundation to make your later years very productive, meaningful and satisfying. Considering that longevity & health-care are improving rapidly, you may actually hit a Century! Are you prepared for it?
