The lockdown was meant to keep us away from infections, so we were asked to maintain social distance and confine ourselves at home.

At first it looked as though it will enable us to come closer to our family members, bond and understand each other better, and build better communication, share activities, hobbies, and each others’ aspirations and desires.

But has it happened? If you were among the lucky ones who has genuinely and on a long term basis strengthened your bonds with your loved ones, then hearty congratulations. Many others have just enjoyed the novelty of being together, made the most of the lockdown as a holiday from routine, and have tried out doing many activities together – but in the long run have they succeeded?

Many families are still staying locked-in. Let them introspect how they are connecting with each of their near and dear, (including friends who they have stopped visiting) how much deeper they are understanding and empathizing – and what permanent benefits in terms of close relationships they have acquired.
