The chill of winter has given way to warm and sunny days.

Step out of your house early in the morning,  watch the sunrise, look around and see how the trees shed their leaves and change color, see the dance of sunlight and shadows ……and come back home to spend cool moments which you will learn to cherish. The outdoors and indoors neutralize all the extreme climates and create a serenity for all.

Don’t shut yourself indoors because it is hot outside. The sun gives us Vitamin D, the clear summer air gives us strength, and nature is at its best in summer.  Step out and get intoxicated with summer.

Many years ago business houses changed advertising strategies from ‘convincing power’ to ‘pester power’.  Advertisements of children’s toys, cycles etc. stopped emphasizing on safety, durability, cost, and started highlighting the bright colors, flashing lights, ‘macho’ looks, etc.  The idea was to impress the children so much that they start pestering their parents to buy them those particular toys.  And they succeeded!

Today the power and influence of the media has increased a hundred times.  Youngsters are bombarded with messages that drugs are not only good for health, they actually improve memory and thus get them more marks in exams. Mobile gaming, whose addiction has been declared by WHO to be a Mental Disorder, is projected as a means to sharpen mental agility.

It takes a lot of effort to keep our heads above this tsunami and think for ourselves.
