Mother Teresa said: “What I am doing is but a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would have been poorer without that drop.”
Let us ask the drop of water what she has to say about her life ………
“I dropped with a splash on the tar road. The tar was still hot since I was part of the first rain after summer. Mercifully there were many other drops to cushion my fall, and I saw myself flowing swiftly away from the road. In a way I was happy, because I was very scared of the speeding vehicles, the loud horns, and the louder shouts of road rage drivers.
I had gone sliding to the roadside gutter, moving at higher and higher speed, tossing and turning, for the rain had become a torrent. I spent the night flowing through the water drains of the large city, a little dark and dingy. By morning I was out in the open, flowing into a lake with lots of brightness. But before I could rejoice, I found the lake was full of silt, effluents and weeds. I swam to the top of the water body, looked up, and prayed that I should be taken away from this swamp. And Lo and Behold, my prayers were heard!
I found myself gently being raised from the earth skyward. I evaporated and reached the cloud, from where I am looking down at a safe distance the hustle and bustle of people on earth. Yet I know that one day I will have to go back there again, and the cycle will continue …..”
