Learn To Accept Differences And Diversity
Its funny, and sad, how we form opinions about people (and animals) without finding out the truth. The 4-ton rhinocerous have a keen sense of smell, can run at 55 kilometers per hour, and have a sharp horn jutting from their nose, giving them a mean look. But surprisingly, they are quite harmless and timid. Their eyesight being poor, they charge at a perceived enemy only to protect themselves. They sometimes even charge at trees or stones thinking that they are going to harm them.
So it is with so many human beings – they may appear daunting, but they are themselves victims of fear that makes them aggressive. This is what is happening all around the world. We are insecure, hence we create enemies in our mind, want to defend ourselves against perceived threat – and we end up becoming aggressors ourselves, actively or passively. This chain needs to be broken.
Let us learn to accept differences and diversity. You need not agree with someone else’s lifestyle, but you don’t have to hate them. You may dislike someone’s actions, and you have a right to protect yourself, but you need not attack him. Even your words can promote hatred, and eventually – violence. Think before you speak.
