Be A Part Of Nature - Not Apart from Nature

View Of Manthan

Humans have been ravaging, abusing and misusing nature for centuries – but lately the volume of this destruction has become so much that finally people are waking up and exhorting all of us to go “green.”

Some of us have truly woken up to it. I feel so proud of my city when I see citizens actively marching to protect trees, to clean up rubbish, to encourage pollution-free roads. I feel more proud when I see children doing such acts.

Many others may be too caught up to become activists or to participate in any civic reformation. It is okay. As long as you become conscious and do your little bit in your immediate vicinity.

A few suggestions:

  1. Conserve water and electricity in your house and office

  2. Minimize the use of automobiles, and take people along with you

  3. Keep at least the few feet of open space outside your house a little cleaner

  4. Do not throw trash or rubbish

  5. Be courteous to other citizens, smile

  6. Grow a few plants – if you do not have open space, grow them in pots

  7. Provide Water Bowls for birds, in your balcony, back-yard, terrace, wherever possible. Birds in the city are very thirsty, and we are drying up their natural water sources. Sparrows are slowly becoming extinct – crows and pigeons will follow them soon.

Not very difficult, no?
