Banjara Academy Alumni Authentication Pages
International Graduate Diploma in Counselling Skills (IGDCS)

Apart from being a directory of sorts of alumni of Banjara Academy's online course in psychological counselling skills, the International Graduate Diploma in Counselling Skills (IGDCS), these pages are mainly intended to authenticate the diplomas being issued to students who successfully complete the course. If you have been awarded the IGDCS diploma, you may have noticed at the bottom of it, the line 'Authenticated on www.banjaraacademy.org'.

Answers to Some Questions of IGDCS Diploma Holders

What is the order of listing?

Alphabetical order, by first name.

There are errors in my page. What should I do?

Please do check if in the page authenticating you, your details have been given correctly as in your diploma - your name, your photo (the thumbnail in your page), your registration number and the period of your doing the course. Do mail Sreedhar if there are any corrections to be made.

Two pics of me, one normal, one a thumbnail - that's some odd idea for authentication?

Well, the thumbnail will be permanent - always that of your photo on the certificate. Guess why we have the space for the other photo?:-).
Hmm, if you don't much like your photo on the diploma and you want a better photo of yours on the website or you want to keep changing your photo (a 'new-look' pic) periodically, please feel free to mail Sreedhar the photo you want up there in your authentication page. Who likes pages with the same pics?:-)

Can I ask you to include any other info in my page?

Since these are authentication pages, we are not giving you the option to edit your page.;-) Though to reduce their work-load, our programmers were telling us that you could be given the facility to edit, even upload your new-look photos directly to your page.
You can mail Sreedhar the details, if you want us to include other information about you - your background, where you work, your website and so on. Also, you can let us know if you would like us to mention on your page here that you can be contacted (through Banjara Academy only) by anybody looking for counsellors or counselling.

How do I give a link to my authentication page?

Noticed the perma-link given separately at the bottom of your page? You can in your email or in your curriculum vitae (CV) or anywhere else, give the perma-link to your authentication page. Clicking on that link or using it in the browser address bar will take anyone to your individual authentication page on the website of Banjara Academy. (Perma-link is web jargon for the link to your separate page; your page often will appear clubbed together with the pages of a few more alumni.)

Before joining igdcs I was keenly interested in knowing a variety of questions about the counselling process. And thought of as how or why counselling happens and progresses . This course not only answered my questions but touched upon Counselling outcomes whether or not counselling is effective, under what conditions it is effective and it actually led to symptom reduction, behaviour change, or quality of life improvement. The assignments took us through the journey of having more to less anxiety , to the counsellee help seeking attitude to the cultural variables , though the course outcome cannot be given as an overview but definitely my quality of life has improved million thanks to my mentor and course coordinator and now it is possible to look beyond i.e the well being of others. Journey continues...

Banjara Academy has been an eye-opener in many ways for me. I am so glad and thankful for having had the opportunity to do my International Graduate Diploma in Counselling Skills (IGDCS) course with the help and support from such wonderful people. To my knowledge, the course contents are very lucid and prompt; the feedbacks precise and very helpful. My special thanks to my mentor Asha Sidd and Sreedhar for their unflinching support, without which I would not have been able to complete my course.

The IGDCS course has not only empowered me to help those seeking a kindly ear, it has also changed my own perspectives in many issues of life. The Banjara family has to be experienced - mere words are not enough to explain and express one’s feelings after being with Banjara. I still have much to learn. With support from Banjara and from the knowledge I gained during my IGDCS course, in my own little way I wish to be able to make a difference in someone’s life and in turn help society. I would also like to mention that at no time during the course was I turned away by any of the faculty or the admin, even if my queries may have sounded frivolous. It was such a wonderful experience of my life! I am proud to be associated with Banjara Academy.

This course has been wonderful, I learnt a lot about myself and human nature and how manifold are the ways of dealing with delicate situations . All this in a very convenient online course. The material was indeed very thought provoking and at times hilarious as to how we humans can make things so complex, but thank God there are solutions. I have learnt not be judgmental and have learnt there are many ways to solve a problem and we need not always be right. The feedback from the mentors was encourgaing. We sure need backup for difficult cases and would be looking forward to writing to you with the challenges faced in counselling, and would love to more courses in specific areas.

My journey as a counselling student from banjara was very enriching. I have come closer to understand human behavior through a different perception,i.e see things from the other person's perspective. It has helped me not only to understand myself better but also the people around me. I am able to empathize with people without being judgmental now, and has become easier for me make connections with people. The online classes were exciting too, as I would wait for the interesting and simple lessons and the feed back specially, by my mentor which was so encouraging. The only aspect which could be added I wish is more of audio-visual practical classes of counselling sessions. The counselling course has made me revitalize my emotional connections, and appreciate the differences in human experience.Thank you Asha(my mentor), for getting me through this wonderful journey of human behavior which is so important to understand for one's peaceful existence in this world..

My journey into the IGDCS was undertaken more with a quest for self exploration but it provided me with a much deeper insight of Life in general.
The core essentials of counseling viz. listening, being non biased, not judging people and empathizing were clearly defined and reiterated from time to time both in our study material and by our Mentor as well. The best part of the material was that it was in clear and lucid language which makes it effortless for one and all to comprehend. Of course I feel that we should go through this material as and when required so as to refresh our learning which in turn will lead us to becoming better counselors. The concept that, ”One size does not fit all” has also been emphasized which means that different people behave differently given the same situation so each case needs to be dealt with in a careful and sensitive manner. Confidentiality is another aspect which ought to be kept in mind and practiced religiously by us.

Non directive counseling is an excellent way to start off as it involves more of listening and empathizing and not giving advice but in fact empowering the counselee to take their own decisions. My experience of the IGDCS course was indeed an enriching one because besides the fact that it delivered the theoretical knowledge ,it also made me go out of my comfort zone especially while doing assignments where I had to approach others and get their feedback. That was challenging and left me feeling satisfied and confident as well. The coordinator Sreedhar was always there to help and is an Asset to the Banjara team. A special thanks to him as well as my mentor Asha Anand for being a valuable pillar of support throughout this intriguing voyage. I hope more and more people can take up this course since its offers study at your own pace and will help people enhance their relationships as well understanding of human behavior which will aid in making this world a Happier and more Peaceful place.
Thank you Banjara
A degree from you is nothing less than a ‘Tiara’ !
