IGDCS course has helped me to know Myself Better

  1. During the course, while doing different modules and related assignments I got the opportunity to introspect and become aware of my own emotions, feelings and thought patterns. These exercises helped me understand my own belief systems that influence my thinking, behaviour, relationships and my life in general.
  2. To discover Human relationship: Under different modules, I discovered the importance of building healthy relationships. Now, I am clear that the main objective of being a counsellor is to reach out to people in need and provide them the company (they are searching) for their emotional healing.
  3. To understand Counselling: This course was really an eye opener for me. Earlier, I believed that counselling means to provide solution or advice to people. However, after learning the basics of emotions, I understood that empathy and unbiased listening are the most important skills in counselling. I understood that a counsellor's role is to encourage and empower counselee to take up the responsibility for self and choose the most appropriate alternatives of goals, attitudes, feelings, actions and behaviour.
  4. Online course: I found this mode very user-friendly as I could do it with my own convenience. Also I got prompt response from the course administrator, wherever required.
  5. Mentor: I appreciate my mentor for giving me an insight into what being a counsellor really means. She has encouraged me throughout the process, while subtly pointing me in the direction where I need to change or improve.
