Business Management

If you are interested in pursuing a career in management, there are different areas you can work in, the most common ones being (1) Government (civil services) (2) business or corporate (3) educational institutions, and (4) NGOs or developmental sector.

Business Management can be studied at different levels:

  • MBA (Master of Business Administration) awarded by a recognized university.

  • PGDM (post graduate diploma in Management) by autonomous institutions who fix their own syllabus which is generally more market-driven.

  • Specialized Diplomas/Programs in specific areas of Management (see list below)

  • Professional bodies’ certification (Project Management Professional PMP, SAP, IATA) for which one has to study on one’s own and clear the qualifying exams

  • Executive MBAs and Management Programs, which are generally on weekends, and are only available to working professionals with minimum experience

  • On-line and distance learning courses in management

  • MBA’s and PGDMs offered by foreign universities (which may or may not be recognized by Indian universities for higher studies or for government jobs)
