Wanted Counsellor for Kumarans Children's Home, Bengaluru.

Kumarans Children's Home, CBSE, is looking for full-time Counsellor to handle children of classes I to VII. This position is in our fairly new campus at Mallasandra.

Here is a description of the job requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:

The candidates will be responsible for addressing the emotional needs of students. Helping students build their self-esteem, confidence, and emotion strengths is a large part of the responsibility. This will involve the use of individualized or group counselling based on the situation. It involves being approachable to students and inspiring in them the confidence that they will be heard in a nonjudgemental, unbiased way

It involves establishing an open channel of confidential communication with them in an attempt to help them solve their problems and build their self-esteem. It involves providing consultations to concerned parents and teachers when necessary. It also involves being able to identify problems that are beyond the scope of normal counselling that may need psychiatric intervention, and sensitively referring students towards such help.

Education, certification, and related work experience:

Candidates must be graduates/postgraduates with training in counselling from recognized institutes. They must have worked as counsellors in a school environment for a minimum of 2 years. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with children's/adolescents or those that have specific training in the areas of child and adolescent counselling.
